THE MPS
GUINEA PIG AND RABBIT ENCLOSURE

The Grade 3/4 students were
inspired to have rabbits and guinea pigs at Moorooduc after our
time at Camp Arrabri in Term 3, which has a similar enclosure
(only a much bigger).
We planned an ice-cream day for
the school and raised enough money to build the enclosure. Some
of us helped to take the measurements for the fencing and wire,
while others researched how we could best care for our new pets.
We had a big surprise when we
came to school one Monday morning and Miss Balcke had built the
enclosure for us.
Our new enclosure is in the
chicken coop and now has
three furry friends living in
it – DUKE the rabbit, STELLA the female Peruvian guinea pig and
LITTLE JOHN the male guinea pig.
We love visiting Duke, Stella
and Little John during recess and lunchtime and are being very
responsible in ensuring that they always have food, fresh water
and ….. lots of cuddles!
We also plan on breeding and
selling guinea pigs for $10 to help buy food and portable cages
for them. During the holidays lucky families will take them
home.

THE
STORY OF TWEETY AND BOSSY
Nanna Bev gave the budgies
to our class to keep. The girl is green and the boy is blue. We
had a vote on the names. The girl is called Bossy and the boy is
called Tweety. Every weekend, a person from our grade takes them
home and looks after them. Every week, two special monitors look
after them in the classroom. Every day we need to change their
food and water. They have lots of toys and they like eating
their seed bell most of all.
