Mathematics

Daily explorations in mathematics are an exciting and valued part of Moorooduc’s Curriculum. Through the guidelines set out by the VELS, Moorooduc provides a comprehensive and sequential mathematics program. The students gain experience in mathematical skills and concepts and are encouraged to think of themselves as 'Mathematicians'.

It is envisaged that by actively involving the students in challenging, yet achievable activities, that they will develop these essential skills and understandings in a meaningful way. Our aim is to enable the students to be competent and confident when dealing with mathematics in a variety of contexts and situations.

The teaching staff at Moorooduc endeavour to make mathematical experiences purposeful by making links across all curriculum areas and thus daily life. Activities such as utilising computer programs, completing tessellating patterns, fundraising for RACV Challenge, cooking, writing lunch orders, map reading and designing games reflect this belief.
